I was born and raised in Maryland. I “fell into” swimming around age 8 because I saw all these kids at the pool with the same suit and I wanted that suit too. I only knew how to swim freestyle and backstroke at the time and DQ’d both my first breaststroke and butterfly events. I trained with Curl-Burke Swim Club (now known as NCAP Swim Club) growing up until moving to various other smaller clubs before college. I was a team captain in high school and the overall MVP all four seasons.
I routinely qualified and finaled in JOs, Age Group Champs, All Stars and Zones. I attended Vanderbilt University for my bachelor’s degree and University of Maryland for my master’s degree, both in Education. I chose not to swim in college, and Vandy didn’t have a team, but I did take up other athletics. Currently, I run, swim, spin, bike and have competed in running events and triathlons. I live in Murrieta; we just moved here in January. I have a daughter; a freshman at Murrieta Mesa HS who is enamored with Lacrosse. And a son in 7th grade at Harvest Hill Steam Academy, who adores all things computers and engineering.
During the day I am a sales enablement manager, previously a high school history/government teacher. We have 5 dogs….no, that’s not a typo. We also have a bearded dragon named Smalls. Throughout my adult life I have coached swimming in a variety of capacities. My husband and I briefly lived in LA after we were married before returning to Maryland. While there I served as the Freshman/Sophomore coach for Palos Verdes HS. I then coached for two YMCA teams in PA and MD and served as the Varsity Boys and Girls Swim & Dive coach at Seneca Valley High School in Maryland. I then moved to working with adults coaching a USA Master’s Swim Team.
Since moving to California, I’ve committed to being a co-head coach at Liberty High School in Menifee. I enjoy coaching because I find fulfillment in helping others live their dreams. I see coaching as so much more than training. I was lucky to have amazing coaches that stepped up at critical times in my life. I want to be that for next generation. I am truly genuine when I say I am looking forward to working with the TMEC family and getting to know each family and swimmer.
